To my knowledge, there is likely nothing you can do besides purchase the poor little ferret. You could try and speak with the manager. Perhaps they may be ignorant to the situation? Unlikely, but I’m throwing ideas out there. Anyone else have ideas?
Here’s the problem: ferrets are illegal in California. So you will likely have to drive out of California to find a ferret. However, there are extreme risks to bringing a ferret into California. If you are caught with a ferret, there is a chance your ferret may be confiscated and/or euthanized.
I personally believe the California laws regarding ferrets are ludicrous, but unfortunately, it is a very risky situation when considering ferret ownership in California.
For more information, Ferrets Anonymous is a great website that advocates for the legalization of ferrets as pets in California.
When a ferret digs at a closed door, this usually means the ferret wants to go into the other room! They can smell the other room but they can’t see it. Since ferrets are natural diggers, their instinct is to try to burrow into the other room.
Digging behavior can rarely be stopped all together. However, there are ways to “harness” your ferret’s energy. I would recommend creating something called a “dig box”. You can fill it with lots of stuff. Sand and rice (NOT instant rice) work really well but they can be a bit messy. However, a mess is much better than having to pay for new carpet!
You can also try to put carpet protector mats in your doorways. I have never had experience with these, but I do know of lots of ferret owners who have been successful with this method. You may have to tape them down, so be sure your ferret does not chew on the tape.
I think I know which picture you are referring to and I believe the ferret is technically considered a Sable with a hooded pattern.
Again, I think.
This is my personal favorite of the day, a portrait of the girls. Check out Miley’s tail!
